Heartbroken Dog 'Abandoned By Family For A Holiday' Has Been Adopted

Our faith in humanity has officially been restored

This heartbroken dog who was 'abandoned' by her family has finally been adopted, it is claimed.

Toots the friendly pooch was rescued six years ago in Hawaii by a family who later gave her up. We'd have her in a flash.

But now it's claimed she has finally been adopted following a stint in the high kill San Bernardino City Animal Shelter.

It's alleged that Toots was given up by her family of six years because they decided they wanted to go on holiday for 'several weeks'.

That's not even the worst bit.

It's claimed that the family went away with their new dog, leaving her behind. Poor Toots.

According to Shared, animal advocate and shelter volunteer, Andrea Neyses, tells the dog's story: "Today I saw the most selfish of humans!

"Going on vacation in a week or so giving up their family member Toots who they adopted six years ago in Hawaii.

"That's not the worst of it; they got a new dog they are taking with them.

"Who can look in her face and know you're their whole world and still walk away?"

She claims to have told the family: "You have a real nice vacation. I bit my lip."

Andrea later posted an update to people following Toots' story.

In it she wrote: "Thanks to all of you sharing, this amazing rescue stepping up, Toots was scooped up at 5pm as Shelter was closing.

"Toots is so very scared but grateful she didn't sleep at shelter one night.

"Rescued at close of business by amazing rescue; Chiquita's Friends Rescue."

Can we get three cheers for Toots?

Earlier this year, LADbible told the story of Ronnie, an eight-week-old mongrel, who was the first dog to be dumped at a rescue home in the new year.

He was given to Battersea Dogs and Cats home in south London, just after New Year's Day after his owner lost their home and couldn't look after him.

Battersea said he was just one of roughly 20,000 pets expected to be abandoned in the UK over winter.

Plenty of people put their hands up to rehouse Ronnie and give him love and affection and he's ended up with a young family from South East London

And he was picked up five days later by Joanne Taylor and her partner, Daniel, after his photos went viral on the internet - the power of social media strikes again you say.
