The reason everybody loves dogs so much is because they have so much love to give. In fact, the only people dogs across the world seem not to get along with are posties and delivery drivers.

But one guy in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, seems to have the magic touch when it comes to canines.

UPS driver, Jason Hardesty, has amassed more than 31,000 followers on Instagram, where he shares pictures of himself with the dogs he meets along his route.

Mr Hardesty - who describes himself on Insta as 'a very easily entertained UPS driver' - said it all started about two years ago when he was moved to a new route.

Speaking to Buzzfeed News, the 30-year-old said: "My old route, which was more families, the dogs did not like you.

"They moved me to a different area of town with more people my age, more single people, and the dogs were a lot friendlier. They come to the door and are happy and let you pet them and stuff."

After meeting a particularly cute doggo one day, Mr Hardesty couldn't resist taking a photo with it and sharing it online, and its subsequent popularity started a trend.

Speaking to Mashable, he said: "There's a lot of dogs on my route. I came across a really cute one and took a picture with him.

"I posted it and got a lot of good feedback and realised people wanted more of that, so I started taking pics of the dogs I came across."

Now it's got to the point where Mr Hardesty has become good pals with many of the dogs he meets, including corgis Oy and Belle and a tiny little ball of fluff called Kash.

So as to avoid reaching dog picture saturation point - which personally I don't think is possible - Mr Hardesty only shares one picture every Friday, with the hashtag #pupsofjay. As such, he's actually got a backlog of pup pictures in the pipeline, awaiting their moment in the sun.

Truly, this hashtag is a beautiful corner of the internet, a shining example of how social media should be used. When Mr Hardesty takes pictures with the dogs on his route, everybody wins: he gets to play with dogs, dogs get to play with him, the owners get a nice delivery man and we all get to look at nice pictures of dogs.

Keep up the good work, Mr Hardesty.
