Clear Lemon Flavoured Coca-Cola Is Launching In Japan

Coca-Cola will release 'Coca-Cola Clear' in Japan on 11 June, and it will be a zero calorie version with a splash of lemon.

Over the years the Coca-Cola company really have been busy doing the rounds. There's Classic, Diet, Zero (which is arguably Diet #2), Life, Lime, Cherry, Vanilla... Oh, and they've even started chipping into the alcoholic market.

What we're trying to say is they've had their fingers in all the pies. Or bottles. Maybe cans. Whatever.

The fizzy drink manufacturer will have a bash at pretty much anything and now it's releasing 'Coca-Cola Clear' on 11 June, which will be a zero calorie version, with a splash of lemon. Sounds snazzy.

Coca-Cola Lemon has been a thing in the past, but this time round they're basically mixing Diet Coke with Lemon and removing the colour - which may be harder than it sounds.

'Coca-Cola Clear' will be hitting the shelves in less than a week but *bad news alert* it will only be available in Japan.

We've got a solution for you though - get some Diet Coke, a squeeze of lemon and close your eyes. Yeah, not quite the same, but there we go.

What a dinky little bottle.

Coca-Cola Japan's website says this 'Clear' version is 'perfect for the summer', adding that it will 'offer a special experience that is perfect for the summer you have never had before'. Oh here we go.

A drink that changes an entire season. Impressive. Sorry to disappoint but no see-through lemon flavoured Diet Coke is changing my summer, guys.

Booking a holiday to North Island in Seychelles and buying a yacht sure as hell will, but that ain't happening either, sadly.

Apparently Coca-Cola spent a year developing it and, according to 9GAG, over 50 samples were created before Coca-Cola finally settled on a zero calorie version with a splash of lemon - sounds fancy when it's put like that doesn't it?

We guess it wouldn't have the same punch if adverts referred to it as 'Lemon Diet Coke' - maybe because, that's already been done.

The only difference is the fact it's crystal bloody clear. Whoopidoo.

Kotaku reported that early impressions are that the 'Clear Coca-Cola' is a refreshing take on the brown fizzy beverage - this must be a joke. So it's more 'refreshing' because it's transparent? Give me a break.

In case you were starting to get excited, they've done the clear thing before - can't say we're too shocked seeing as the lemon bit has as well.

In the 40s, after World War II, 'white Coke' was made for Soviet Marshal Georgy Zhukov. Wires would be well and truly crossed if you asked someone in this day and age to try that.
