We all like to think and hope that when we're ancient we'll be able to have a good laugh and joke without turning into a full on fossil. Whether or not that happens will be a different story altogether.

But these two elderly LADs have proved they're not growing up any time soon when they escaped from their nursing home to attend the world's biggest music festival. Now, these are our kinda people and if that isn't goals we're not sure what is.

Police found the two OAPs at 3am among the crown at Wacken Open Air music festival in Wacken, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

And my gran can't even stay up past 8:30pm. Well played, gents.

The Metro reported that the ageing metal heads were reluctant to leave the party so police had to send them home in a taxi, escorted by a police car.

Worried staff at the German nursing home alerted the police after the pair vanished.

A local officer, Merle Neufeld, said: "Both were disoriented and apathetic." But they had a bloody brilliant time, we bet.

Merle added: "They obviously liked the metal festival. The care home quickly organised a return transport after police picked them up."

The festival was sold out with 75,000 people expected to attend each of the four days and out of those 75,000 were a couple of grey-haired geriatrics. Brilliant.

We don't know the names of these absolute LADs and haven't seen them but we can just imagine them rocking out with a zimmer frame covered in mud watching the likes of Red Hot Chilli Peppers. And potentially getting involved with a mosh pit or two.

The festival, which ran from August 1 to 4, is a must attend for all die-hard heavy metal fans like these two old fogies.

According to Deutsche Welle, headline acts this year included Danzig, Judas Priest, Hatebreed, In Flames, Running Wild, Arch Enemy, In Extremo and Eskimo Callboy.

Police praised revelers this year for good behaviour with little interference needed - it looks to me like everyone saw this pair and decided to respect their elders.

We can't help but wonder whether they're going to go for round two next year but one thing's for sure, if they need any help we're all over it.
