Kids can be the cruellest of people. School playgrounds are notorious for children being picked on, and bullied.

It can leave kids feeling lonely and rejected. One kid, Ollie, has been subject to such torment from some of his classmates, and his dad, Chris, has done something incredible.

On Thursday morning, he posted a tweet, describing his son's treatment at school. "Strange request," he began. "Anyone know anyone famous/well know who could send Ollie a positive/ 9th birthday message."

In a couple of other tweets, he explained that another boy in the school constantly tells Ollie that whatever the nine-year-old has, his is bigger or better.

Poor Ollie, was also told that his birthday, despite being excited for it, won't be as good as this other kid's.

Chris said: "I would be so grateful and I appreciate it is an odd request. Just would love someone to tell he does mean something and bullying is not."

Well, with the power of social media, that tweet took off. Soon, Ollie was inundated with messages from kind strangers.

One wrote: "Happy birthday Ollie. Not famous but hope you have an awesome day. If ever things get tough keep these tweets and remember how special you are."

Another added: "You are great people. Bullies are nothing - I know. They vanish eventually. And you do forget."

Then, all of a sudden, the celebrities got involved. Television presenter Jake Humphrey was the first. In a video message, he said: "Listen, happy, happy birthday. The only reason anyone would ever say anything negative to you, and bully you, is because they don't feel very good themselves."

Olympian Tom Bosworth joined the act, as did CBBC Newsround presenter Ricky Boleto. Everyone's favourite weatherman, Matt Taylor posted, comedian Adil Ray did too, and there was even a tweet from radio DJ Sara Cox.

But then, things stepped up a notch...

Yes, from the sport world, the England football team tweeted him, Manchester City joined, and the world's best jockey also.

From music, Reverend And The Makers, plus Stormzy also said a big happy birthday to the youngster.

Even Hollywood A-lister Russell Crowe gave the LAD a birthday message...

All in all the tweet has been retweeted 12,000 times and received 29,000 likes, with a whole host of blue-ticked names giving Ollie a birthday to remember.
