There are certain things you watch in life that take you completely and utterly by surprise. But this gymnast's seamless routine tops them all.

University of California gymnast Katelyn Ohashi has turned into a viral sensation since delivering (and absolutely nailing) the perfect 10 routine which saw her land a very high final split and come bouncing back.

The 21-year-old, originally from Seattle, played a blinder at the Collegiate Challenge competition in Anaheim, California.

As the King of Pop's anthem 'The Way You Make Me Feel' belted out, Katelyn delivered three tumbles before the crotch-crushing splits which left people empathising with the gymnast (who it didn't seem to phase whatsoever).

Another posted: "My vagina hurt just watching that! LOL," with someone adding: "So did mine, and I haven't even got one."

Others were simply appreciating the routine, one said: "I've never considered myself a fan of gymnastics but I could watch this over and over. Her passion is inspiring and completely infectious."

"The amount of fun @katelyn_ohashi appears to be having and how relaxed she looks is what it's all about. Phenomenal, so much fun to watch this team compete," another commented.

Katelyn's coach, Valorie Kondos Field told The Daily Bruin: "Her whole floor routine is ridiculously hard. Every single thing about it, including the backwards split that she does after her leap pass - it's insane."

This wasn't the first time Katelyn made headlines, back in 2018 she performed another Michael Jackson-inspired routine.

News.com.au reported that she is the reigning NCAA co-champion in floor exercises and was also a 2018 NCAA team champion.

Before UCLA, Katelyn was competing at the elite level but, according to The Players' Tribune she had been doing routines on a fractured back and two torn shoulders.
