Lucky LAD Wins Lottery Twice In One Week

Lucky LAD Wins Lottery Twice In One Week

One Bondi resident won the lottery twice in the space of five days and he's being ever so sensible with it

Most people dream of winning the lottery, and just the once would do for them as well. Not even the jackpot, we'd take a tenner really, just to say we'd 'won the lottery'.

But one lucky LAD from Bondi, Australia, struck gold twice in the space of five days after he reinvested some of his initial winnings in another ticket - which also proved to be a winner, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

The 40-year-old got his first win last Monday when his system entry took out the guaranteed AUD $1 million (£555,900 / USD $755,400) division one prize.

He was one of 14 division one winners in Saturday's AUD $20 million (£11.1m / USD $15.1m) Lotto Superdraw draw which was drawn on Saturday 12 May. Each took home a division one prize of $1,428,571.43 (£793,906 / USD $1m).

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, told NSW Lotteries at the time that he planned to spend his dosh on local real estate. Very sensible, although we could probably make some better suggestions.

He said: "I'm not going to be stupid with it. I wouldn't mind buying a place at Bondi Beach."

Maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but I reckon nobody would really mind that.

Before splashing the cash into a beach-side apartment, he put some of it on to a second lottery ticket, for the Saturday draw. Because he's obviously got his head screwed on.

And with luck clearly strapped to his side, he won again, joining 13 others in the division one prize. This time he raked in almost AUD $1.5m (£834,025 / USD $1.1m). The total cash the two-time winner has now taken home is AUD $2.5m (£1.4m / USD $1.9m).

If we're not jealous then we're not human, right?

Despite his double win, the man told NSW Lotteries when they called the second time that he was still planning to be 'sensible' with the money.

He said: "I'm not going to be stupid with it and I still plan to invest it wisely in real estate but I guess I'm now more financially secure."

He said he had already bought himself a new car, and a holiday to Honolulu 'goes without saying'. He best stop treating himself and be careful it doesn't run out.

The lucky guy bought both tickets from the same newsagents, Bondi Sixway News, which last sold a winning entry about eight years ago.

Owner, Patrick Xu, said the news of the recent double win had sent more customers into their 'lucky' business. We're sure every one of them will win now.

He told the Sydney Morning Herald: "A lot of people are coming into the shop. They say it's unbelievable. My customer told me the chance is one in 45 million. Now we're a lucky shop."

Wonder whether he's got a girlfriend to share the money with, or just donate a bit to anyway. Unlike Paul Long who won the lottery weeks after splitting from his long-term other half.

We must say, we're really pleased for these guys but is it our turn yet?
