This Secret London Subway Could Soon Reopen To The Public

Cool.

If you travel on the tube and ultimately hate it because, let's face it, it's a friggin' ball ache, you'll wish you had access to this secret subway.

It was built for first class passengers going to the Crystal Palace in the 1860's - and I don't mean going to watch mediocre football at Selhurst Park, I mean an actual palace in Hyde Park.

However, after the palace was destroyed in a fire in 1936, it was then used as an air raid shelter in World War II.

Now friends of the secret subway want to reopen it to the public as a walkway.

Other than annual tours, the subway has been used for ravers to drop mollys in and has appeared in a Chemical Brothers music video.

£50,000 is needed to reopen the tunnel so it can be appreciated by the public.

"We have got enough money to start the work and begin reinstating safe access to the subway. We really want more people to be able to enjoy it as it's a stunning site and we want to show its value.

"It's the community that have really got behind this project and who are working really hard to get the site open again," Treasurer for the fundraising group Jules Hussey told the Standard.

It looks pretty brilliant.
