While weddings are usually pretty fun (and a good excuse for a bit of a piss-up with your nearest and dearest), there's no denying that they can make for a really long day. You have to get up super early to get ready in time, and wait around for ages afterwards for the food before having to muster the energy for round two when it comes to the evening do.

Well, one woman has put us all to shame - having rocked up to her sister's wedding just five hours after having a baby. Now THAT is dedication.

Emily Chell, 27, went into labour three weeks early, meaning it coincided with her sister's wedding. Having been staying at a hotel with sister Katie ahead of the big day, Emily dashed off to hospital and gave birth to her baby boy Brody, who was born at 7.10am weighing 7lbs 7oz.

But rather than chilling out with the newborn at the hospital or on the sofa - as would be understandable - Emily and her partner, 34-year-old Wayne Barratt, whizzed over to the church just five hours later, new baby in tow.

Emily, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, said: "Brody wasn't due for another three weeks so it was really unexpected when my waters broke on Friday night.

"It was about 10pm and my mum drove me home because my neighbour is a midwife.

"About midnight my neighbour told me I should go to hospital so she drove me and I just kept telling the doctors I had to go to the wedding.

"Wayne had been out for a drink with my dad and Brett but he managed to make it to the hospital and Brody was born at 7.10am.

"It was a natural birth and luckily there were no complications and we went to the ward for a little rest.

Emily, who runs her own beauty salon business, continued: "We left the hospital at 11.15am and drove 13 miles back to the wedding venue.

"We'd called ahead and someone had brought my bridesmaid dress there so as soon as I got there I put Brody in his crib and jumped in the dress.

"I was ten minutes late but people had waited for me so I walked down the aisle holding Brody. Everyone cheered when we walked in. It was a lovely moment.

"I don't know if it was the excitement of the wedding but we joked that Brody didn't want to miss out.

"I was looking forward to the wedding and everyone was taking bets Brody would be born on the day but I didn't think it would happen.

"When we were in the hospital I kept saying I wanted to get to the church on time.

"The doctors kept telling me if there were no complications and he was born by 7am we would make it. Even though he was born at 7.10am they let us go."

Emily added: "It was pretty mad because my mum hadn't even met Brody until we made it to the church.

"I was still feeling very light-headed from the drugs I'd been on but we managed to make it to the reception and left after the speeches so I could feed Brody."

After the wedding, Katie, 28, and her new husband Brett Simcock, 29, were able to pose for pictures holding their new nephew.

Katie added: "It was a crazy day and I was completely overwhelmed by everything.

"Emily tried her hardest to get to the wedding and I was glad she made it in time. We'll now always share our anniversary with Brody."

Definitely a story to bear in mind next time you're moaning about feeling sleepy at a family wedding. Good effort.
