Best man forced to say ‘I’ll end it there’ after going too far with wedding speech punchline

He wisely decided to leave the wedding guests laughing

A best man decided to wrap up his wedding toast after making a joke which left the guests roaring with laughter.

It's tough being the best man at a wedding as you're expected to be the entertainment while your best mate has the biggest day of his life.

Your speech has got to make a room full of people laugh but you can't go too far otherwise you might just end up making things incredibly awkward.

You don't want to end up embarrassing your mate like the best man who was on duty for his friend's second wedding and opened his speech with: "Welcome back everyone."

Everyone thought that was very funny apart from the groom, who later tore into his best man for bringing up the fact he'd been married before.

It's a tricky thing to ride that line between funny and embarrassing as you've got to make fun of the groom a little bit, just not enough to spoil his day.

At one wedding the best man finished his speech by saying: "I'll end it there, shall I?"

He'd been doing his speech when he mentioned how many children the bride and groom already had together and ended up with the room in stitches at his joke.

He said: "What is it now guys, four kids that you're working on?

"Four kids, tremendous. If there's one word I could use to describe Damon it would be dependable.

Luckily the bride and groom looked like they enjoyed the punchline.

"If you set something up and this guy says he's gonna be there, he'll be there. We've all learned this guy does not like to pull out."

There was plenty of applause from the wedding guests and the best man thought it best to 'end it there' on a high note.

Whether he had more material to work with or not he definitely picked the right time to wrap up the speech.

Always leave them wanting more, as they say.

Of course everyone asked to step up and deliver a best man's speech has many impressive examples to follow.

One bloke cracked out the guitar to sing a song about the happy couple which left people wondering if they could book him for their wedding.

Another who was being best man to his cousin joked about the time he had a crush on the bride back when they were in school together.

However, the best ever best man's speech has surely got to be from a bloke called Derek, who told everyone about the time the bride and groom were caught in bed by the family at Christmas.
