Punters at a Staffordshire pub were left star struck when Liam Gallagher popped in for his Sunday lunch - the day after playing the biggest gig of his solo career.

The former Oasis frontman was fresh from playing to more than 50,000 people in Manchester on Saturday night, when he decided to pop in to the Butt Lane pub, The Crown aka The Croner Pin, for a roast dinner.

The 45-year-old rock and roll star enjoyed a full pub lunch with all the trimmings, along with a pint of Guinness - of course - with his family and stage crew.

Pub assistant Dave Lovatt, 28, lives upstairs and said it was a truly surreal moment for the punters and staff.

He said: "It was a crazy couple of hours, just not what anyone expects from a regular Sunday, to see Liam Gallagher come in and ask for a Sunday lunch.

"Honestly, yeah, I was star struck. I'm a huge Oasis and Gallagher fan - I saw him at Finsbury Park back in June."

Gallagher was said to be 'down to earth' and 'had time for everyone'.

Dave said: "Before he'd even come in and ordered he was stopping to take photos with people, and talking to them - he was just really down to earth and answered any question people had."

Gallagher was on his way back to him home to London, when a classic Sunday lunch was calling and a member of his security recommended The Crown.

"One of his security regularly drinks here, so when Liam had said he was after a Sunday lunch he just came here," Dave added.

"It was surreal because about 80 per cent of people in the pub were Gallagher and Oasis fans and had been to the show the night before."

Gallagher spent a couple of hours in the establishment chatting with fans, posing for selfies and just 'having a laugh'.

Dave said: "He's just like a naturally funny guy, so he was just great having banter with people."

Joanne Coates, a huge Liam Gallagher fan, told LADbible: "He was very friendly, and obviously very cool and funny. We had been to his gig the night before. He thanked us for going."

The Crown pub has been run by landlady Jacqui Torgut, 58, for the past five years - and she's a big Liam fan too.

Liam also shocked his audience on Saturday night by performing Oasis song 'Champagne Supernova' solo for the first time.

The Emirates Old Trafford concert was his biggest solo show yet, performing to more that 50,000 people - the show also featured support from Richard Ashcroft, former lead singer of The Verve, grime rapper Bugzy Malone and Manchester band Twisted Wheel.
