Dating people in 2019 should be easier than ever thanks to social media and dating apps that can connect people who might have never crossed paths.

But it seems like some people out there are finding it tough because, well, women are setting their sights too high.

That's according to Modesto De Vito, aspiring Perth model and house painter, who reckons Aussie women are only looking for 'bad boys' for a potential partner when they should instead be settling for the good guys.

Speaking to Perth Now, the brother of 2003 Australian Idol contestant Cosima De Vito said: "They go more for a guy that's living out on the edge. That whole bad boy thing.

"As soon as there's a guy that looks like a player, they seem to be attracted to that. They love that thrill, that excitement, which a good guy, or a nice guy, can't give them."

He says he gets friend-zoned by women and then often ends up being their shoulder to cry on when they get hurt by the bad boys they go after.

"I think they need to lower their expectations a little bit," he told Perth Now.

Modesto also says any woman he eventually gets to go on a date with reacts negatively when he picks them up in his Ford Ranger.

Some guys just can't catch a break.

Modesto says women usually find it more appealing when he says he's a freelance model rather than a house painter.

"Automatically they associate [being a model] with a player," he said. "But it's the furthest from the truth. I'm honest. I'm loyal. I work hard."

He's told Perth Now that he applied for this year's season of Married At First Sight but pulled out because he thought reality TV wasn't for him.

To be fair, why anyone would want to go on that show after the last few years is beyond us.
