People Can't Get Over This Map Of Australia At An American Zoo

What in fresh hell is this?

While Australia has a pretty unique shape, most of us would be able to draw a really rough outline of it (and don't you dare even think about considering leaving Tasmania off that outline).

Some people might make mistakes here and there; maybe not making the Great Australian Bite big enough, downplaying Western Australia's coastline or maybe not getting Queensland's horn correct.

But few would follow in the steps of a zoo in America, who, despite plenty of maps available online, has decided to educate the masses with a picture of Australia without Victoria.

This picture has been uploaded to Reddit, illustrating your standard American lunacy about other countries.

It shows a map of a Victoria-less Australia, with Tassie pushed very close to the border of New South Wales.

It's meant to be an educational map showing visitors to an Indiana zoo how big the Great Barrier Reef is. Ironically, even the strip showing where the reef is on Australia is wrong.

Imagine if that map was real and the eastern coastline of South Australia was dead straight.

While the map is hilarious, the comments on the Reddit post are just as funny, as people try to explain the reasons why Victoria was left off.

"Vicxit. We left the Commonwealth and formed our own pretentious republic with deconstructed coffee and folk bands you've probably never heard of," said one person.

"It's very cold so we all voted to just move the whole state north. I hope nobody minds?? We will probably vote to move it all back when it's summer...so we cool right," wrote another.

A third added: "Pretty sure this was back during the Emu wars, when Victoria temporarily succeeded from Australia and declared neutrality."

Another user said: "They started with New Zealand. We did not rise up to defend our brothers and now they're doing the same to us. Australia's too big to remove in one shot so they're doing it state by state. #WeCannotBeErased."

They're referring to the little international issue whereby New Zealand seemed to be disappearing from people's maps.

Ikea was forced to apologise after leaving Kiwi-land off their maps, and Nutella and Guinness both featured a map of the world that didn't include poor ole New Zealand.

There's even a sub-Reddit called World Maps Without New Zealand if you're keen to see all the times the small island country has been forgotten by map creators.
