There are a few reasons why movie villains are feared by people both on and off the screen, one of them being their appearance. Thinking over some of the most terrifying enemies in film history, people like Leatherface, Freddie Kruger and Jason Voorhees spring to mind.

So the last place you'd probably want to see someone looking like that would be delivering your baby in a hospital. Well, that was the situation facing Justin and Brittany Selph from Tennessee.

The couple weren't expecting their new bundle of joy until today, but Brittany woke on the day of Halloween to find her water had broken. Justin tells LADbible: "Not wanting to make the other children, Brenden and McKinley, miss their Halloween parties, she elected to get them off to school. She's a little hard headed and stubborn sometimes, and thinks of the kids before herself always."

When they eventually got to the hospital after midday, they were introduced to their doctor, Dr Paul Locus. Most couples waiting to have their baby delivered would expect a man or woman dressed in normal hospital scrubs to appear, but Dr Locus came into their room dressed as Heath Ledger's Joker from The Dark Knight.

Justin adds: "We couldn't help but laugh, when he walked in the room. My wife, being the open-minded woman, with a sense of humour, thought it would be hilarious to have such a unique delivery."

Dr Locus checked in on Brittany several hours after she came into hospital and said she wasn't ready to give birth, so said he would nip home to hand out sweets to local kids, but assured Justin and Brittany he would take off his slightly intimidating costume and come back for the delivery.

But the couple requested, if it wasn't too much of a bother, if he could keep his outfit on. Justin says: "The nurse called her doctor in, and to our surprise, he showed up in full Joker attire, ready to deliver our baby, Oaklyn.

"There my wife is, staring the Joker straight in the eyes while delivering our baby, what a sight!

"I was going to go Facebook Live, but the nurse cut me off.

Dr Locus came in the next morning and said to the couple 'Sorry I couldn't make it last night', keeping up the banter that it was the Joker who delivered the baby. He even signed a card as Dr Joker.

"My wife is one strong, independent woman," says Justin. "When it became time for Oaklyn to come, it never phased her. I never thought it would, nothing ever does. I'm a lucky husband and father."

It's one hell of a story that Justin and Brittany get to tell, and they're very excited to one day tell Oaklyn about the very special way she was brought into this world.
