People stick their noses up at supermarket bought wine and spirits because they're so cheap. There would definitely be some evil eyes if you rocked up to a dinner party with a few bottles of £4 Sauvignon.

It could taste bloody awesome yet people will still not respect it.

Well, you can shove Aldi's Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin in their face and tell them to suck it because it just won Gold at the International Spirits Challenge Tasting Awards.

With more than 160 entries from distillers around the world, the German supermarket's gin managed to nab the top award, which was only handed out to eight products.

Get. Me. A. Bottle.

It's described on Aldi's website as: "A clear, light crisp gin with rounded spice and a touch of juniper. Delicately infused and traditionally distilled for a clear, crisp and complex flavour."

The Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin, which only costs £9.99 at Aldi for 700ml and £14.19 for 1L, managed to get Gold when its competitors cost two, three or four times as much.

Aldi also picked up bronzes for three types of its Eden Mill St. Andrews Botanical Project Traditional Batch Gin, a bronze for its Darley's Gin and a silver for its Topaz Blue Premium Gin. Not bad - not bad at all.

This comes off the back of the product absolutely smashing the competition at last year's event. Not only did Aldi's gin hit the mark with taste testers, but the supermarket took home 20 - yes twenty medals.

A spokesperson from the International Spirits Challenge told the MailOnline: "The display of awards achieved by Aldi this year at the International Spirits Challenge was fantastic.

"They consistently showcased high quality products in the blind tastings, which demonstrates that you don't have to compromise on price to enjoy great tasting drinks."

Unfortunately, the only bad thing that results from something like this is that everyone wants to get a piece of the award-winning stuff - meaning sometimes some stores might sell out quickly.

Thankfully though, you'd think after three years of winning awards, Aldi would jack up the price for the Oliver Cromwell - but you'd be wrong it's only increased in price by about 30p.

So if you're wondering what to pick up the next time it's sunny in the UK, you can't go past this gin that costs less than a tenner.
