It's hard to judge a good crisp, purely because there are simply SO many variables at play. Does it have to be a sliced potato vibe, or can we include maize snacks, tortilla chips and so on?
Even once you've determined that, we then get into flavour territory, which just gets even more contentious. I mean, you'd never trust anyone who whacks open a packet of roast chicken Walker's on a train. Absolute animal.
Well, according to the general public, the best crisp of all time is the humble Cheeto - the cheesy, dayglo orange puffed corn snack that's one of America's most popular exports.

Cheetos came out on top in the community vote on Ranker for the world's 'most delicious chips, crisps and crunchy snacks'.
Telling users to vote on 'the most delicious chip according to your preference of flavor, texture, and size', the Ranker description read: "How do you rank the greatest chip of all time? Do you go by dip-ability? Or the flavor of the chip by itself? Do you go by the size of the chip? Do healthy chips make better chips?

Our runner up is Cool Doritos - a solid choice, sure, but better than Chilli Heatwave? Debatable.
In at third place is the trusty ol' Lay's Classic, followed up with the same brand but in BBQ flavour in fourth.

Ruffles Cheddar Sour Cream are in at fifth, while Pringles don't make an appearance until we get to sixth place, which is surprising - Original flavour as well, weirdly, with the more iconic Sour Cream and Onion flavour following up in seventh place.
The rest of the top 10 also features Fritos Corn Chips, Ruffles Sour Cream and Onion and Sunchips Harvest Cheddar.
Kettle Chips don't even make an appearance until 27th place, which is a bit of a joke, though the list slightly makes up for it by the fact that the brand's Salt and Fresh Ground Pepper flavour comes in at 29. An absolute classic.
Elsewhere on the list there are variations on well-known favourites (Jalapeno Cheddar Cheetos, Doritos Salsa Verde and Pringle Honey and Mustard), as well as some other completely random additions (Old Dutch Ripples Loaded Spud flavour, anyone?) to give us quite the eclectic spread.
