Don't Panic But Colin The Caterpillar Is Getting A Christmas Makeover

This will make Christmas even better

Beloved Colin has been a feature of many birthdays across the UK, mainly due to his deliciousness, low price and the fact that he's pretty cool. More than seven million cakes have been sold since Colin was introduced by Marks & Spencer in 1990.

But if you wanted to indulge on the chocolatey caterpillar during Christmas, well M&S has you covered. The retailer is releasing mini Colins in the lead up to the festive season and he is dressed in Santa hats and has a full, white beard.

Look how amazing they are. Get us one now.

This is only a few weeks since the British retailer announced plans for a ghoulish caterpillar in time for Halloween called Count Colin. This bad boy will only set you back £7 ($9.5) and he comes with a vampire face, drizzled with red icing and has black chocolate beans and boots.

You can also get mini Count Colins for £2 ($2.7), which M&S reckons are 'perfect for parties', although it'd be pretty hard to share these around with all your mates before you scoff several packs.

This is just another adaptation of everyone's favourite chocolate sponge roll cake filled with chocolate buttercream and covered in a milk chocolate shell, with sugar-coated milk chocolate beans.

Say chocolate one more time.

For the caterpillar's 25th birthday, M&S went all out to produce a limited-edition cake which had a party hat, multi-coloured feet and candy spots. There has also been a Colin produced for grooms to get down them at their wedding, along with a soon-to-be-wife, Connie, for the lucky bride. They went a step further for the newlywed caterpillars and made little wedding rings and edible confetti.

But the problem with Colin is that he's just too small.

So, M&S decided to give the people what they've been crying out for since his inception: a Giant Colin the Caterpillar. Weighing more than two kilograms and measuring more than 40 centimetres, this cake is truly the stuff of dreams.

It will set you back £40 ($54), but everyone knows it would be worth every penny.

Surprisingly, it takes 38 people to create every Colin that rolls off the conveyor belt. Marks & Spencer uses roughly 8.4 tonnes of sugar coating every year just to make those decorative spots.

Hopefully M&S rolls out a different Colin for every holiday or event in the future. The more Colins in the world the better.
