A man in Texas has shown that social media isn't all bad, by harnessing its powers to help his dad with his new doughnut shop.
Billy By shared a heart-wrenching post of his dad stood all alone behind the counter in a very empty, newly opened doughnut shop in Houston, Texas, urging people to come down and buy some of the delicious treats on offer.
And did people rally 'round? You better believe it and before anyone knew what was happening the tweet was viral and hungry doughnut hunters were flocking to the shop - named Billy's Donuts - managing to completely clean it out of doughnuts and kolaches. Well done, Twitter.
Billy's original tweet read: "My dad is sad 'cause no one is coming to his new donut shop" alongside a crying emoji and a number of photos showing his dad behind the counter, some unreal-looking doughnuts and an empty car park.
The tweet quickly racked up the likes, retweets and comments - with more than 300,000 likes and counting.
In a follow-up, Billy shared the address and the shop's Instagram page, before providing us all with a final update thanking people for coming and supporting a local business. Ahh, how lovely, is that?
Comments flooded in from people who had been lucky enough to get some of the sell-out doughnuts saying they were 'so good' and the 'best ever', high praise indeed.
Over on Instagram the Billy's Donuts' page already has 14,500 followers - not bad considering it's only a few days old and has just six posts. The most recent of which shows a photo of Billy and his dad behind the counter with the caption: "Thanks everyone so much! We sold out today! We appreciate all the love and support. My dad isn't sad anymore!" Is someone chopping onions?
People on social media can't get enough of the sweet story with one replying: "This made my day. Thank you."
Another said: "The moment in life where Twitter and whatever social media platform actually does an awesome job."
While others said the whole thing had 'made them cry' - I'm assuming they mean happy tears, but maybe they're crying because they missed out.
