Morrisons Launches 'Britain's Biggest Supermarket Steak' For Father's Day

Measuring 30cm, it's four times the size of your average 9oz rump steak

Morrisons has launched what it's dubbing 'Britain's biggest supermarket steak', and by the looks of things, it won't disappoint:

The 'Daddy of all Steaks' weighs in at nearly a kilo - making it four times the size of your average 9oz rump steak. From the video above, you can see that the 30cm steak is so big it barely fits in the pan, giving you the perfect excuse to fire up the barbecue this weekend. YES PLEASE.

The supermarket has launched the steak especially for Father's Day, after steak sales rose by a whopping 41 percent last year for the big day.

Available nationwide until Sunday 17 June, it'll set you back just £8.16 ($10.96)for 32oz, meaning it's also an affordable treat for your old man (or you). I mean, let's face it, what would your old man love more than a giant slab of meat? Put the sequins and PVA glue down... we all knew you weren't going to make him homemade card, anyway.

Matt Slater, Butchery Buyer at Morrisons said: "We know that many dads love steak on Father's Day. This monster is an absolute bargain at less than £9 and we hope our dads will love it."

Morrisons is taking the steak seriously, too, having briefed 2,000 expert butchers up and down the country on how to cut 32oz slices from a whole beef rump.

Any customers who aren't up for the challenge can ask their butcher to cut a slightly smaller steak, but that's no fun.

If your dad's more of a burger guy, Morrisons has just launched a giant one of those as well.

The 'Daddy of all Burgers' is four times the size of your normal quarter pounder and costs just £3 ($4.03) - which is a pretty good bang for your buck, given that it's 18cm wide.

Just pop the 1lb burger into one of Morrisons' giant 50p burger buns (aptly titled the 'Daddy of all Buns') with any other bits and bobs you fancy - bacon, cheese, pickles, whatever - and you've got yourself quite the feast.

Completing the 'Big Daddy' package, there's also Morrisons' recently-launched giant 19-piece full English breakfast.

Served up on a plate so giant we're pretty sure it's theoretically a serving platter, the 19-piece breakfast includes three rashers of British bacon, three British pork sausages, three hash browns, two fried eggs, two slices of black pudding, two slices of fried bread, two half tomatoes, baked beans and sliced mushrooms.

Helen Tordoff from Morrisons said: ''Our standard cooked breakfast is one of our most popular meals on the menu, but customers have asked for one that's even bigger.

"The 'Big Daddy Breakfast' is an excellent choice for customers with a big appetite.''

With eight more items than Morrisons' standard breakfast, the massive meal will set you back just £6 ($8) - and is available at in-store cafés now.

That's Father's Day breakfast, lunch and dinner sorted then.
