If you're a week into 2019 and starting to wonder whether you'll stick to your New Years resolution of being healthy, here's a nice bit of inspiration to keep you going.

Ralph Lawless used to weigh a whopping 29 stone (184kg) back in October 2017 and he could put away a decent chunk of food.

The former builder said: "I was addicted to eating bacon sandwiches and would eat eight per day at my worst.

"I was a complete recluse and once I started eating, I just couldn't stop.

"Kebabs, pizzas, bacon, frozen food, I would eat it all most days. Anything I could get my hands on and eat, I would.

"Every day I was eating the same as most people would in an entire week.

At his lowest, Ralph would eat up to eight bacon butties a day.

His turning point came when he had a fall on the job and it left him unable to work. That sparked a downward spiral that the 47-year-old described as 'rock bottom'.

Anyone who has hit rock bottom will know that you either sink or swim and Ralph chose to swim and boy did he swim. He went to a guidance counsellor and got onto a diet and exercise program that worked for him.

"I needed to retrain my brain to understand what healthy food was."

"I got into cycling and then classes at the gym like aerobics and body pump. I've worked my way up to become a class instructor and still go about ten to 14 times a week.

"I love it and it's given me a whole new lease of life."

Look at him now, a full 17 stone lighter.

Before taking on this dramatic life change, he would have four cups of sugary, milky coffee for breakfast, several bacon sandwiches and three bowls of homemade soup with potatoes for brunch and lunch and then would top it all off with a kebab with chips for dinner.

If he was feeling particularly peckish he'd drink eight cans of beer, down a share-pack of crisps or a frozen pizza.

Now he's gone complete #cleaneating with porridge for breakfast, a fish or chicken salad for lunch and something similar for dinner.

Ralph's transformation has seen him go from wearing 6XL clothes to donning 32-sized pants. Not too shabby Ralphy-boy. Now, he's slimmed down from 29 stone to 12 stone, allowing him to enjoy a new-found love: dancing.

His mates have even nicknamed him Ralph Travolta after John's iconic dancing role in Saturday Night Fever.

Good on you Ralph, this is the #fitspo we need for 2019.
