Heartbreaking photos of a woman marrying the love of her life just hours before dying have gone viral.
Heather Mosher married David Mosher on 22 December at St Francis Hospital in Connecticut where she was being cared for. Her final words were the vows she made to David, before she passed away 18 hours later.
Bridesmaid Christina Lee captured the moment of happiness and defiance on Heather's face, and the photo has been shared by husband David.
Speaking to WFSB, David said: "Nobody thought she would've made it that far. She proved them all wrong and that's what that photo says to me.
"It reminds me of someone who is crossing the finish line of a marathon or something,"
The couple met in 2015, with David saying the quickly became 'inseparable'. But on 23 December 2016, the couple were given the terrible news that Heather had breast cancer.
Determined to stick by her side whatever happened, David decided to propose on the same day.
"She didn't know I was going to propose that night, but I said to myself, she needs to know she's not going to go down this road alone," he said.
Sadly, the couple were hit with more bad news just five days later when doctors told Heather her diagnosis was triple negative, one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer.
In September this year they found out it had spread. Heather was taken into hospital and was placed on life support with a tube helping her to breath.
She was initially told she wouldn't live to October, but went on to defy doctors' prognoses.
"She was tough. Anyone else would have given up a long time ago. The doctors even said we don't know how she's still here," David told WFSB.
The wedding was initially set for 30 December, but they brought it forward due to Heather's deteriorating health. So, with family and friends gathered around, the couple exchanged their vows on 22 December.
Just 18 hours later, Heather passed away.
David said: "She's my great love, and I'm going to lose her, but I'm not losing her forever.
"Heather said, 'I want to keep fighting,' so that's the mantra I'm picking up. She was able to fight til the end, I'm going to fight until my end."
