It's time we all took this a lot more seriously.

Let's just start this by saying: all abuse is wrong. It's not a competition and it doesn't matter what gender you are, being trapped in an abusive relationship is horrible, it's scary and it's definitely not as easy as 'why don't you just leave then?' Shamefully, though, the world seems to overlook domestic violence against men and we, as a society, need to start taking this problem more seriously and helping lads who are in this situation.

One YouTube star Shoe0nHead has made a video highlighting just some of the issues males who are in domestically abusive relationships face.

"Domestic abuse is fucked. There's something seriously disturbing about going to Google and searching domestic abuse help and seeing battered women, battered women shelters, women, women, women," she says.

The YouTuber absolutely hits the nail on the head when she says that male abuse is often 'forgotten about, ignored or even mocked' which is the shameful thing about it. Men are expected to 'man up' and just get on with it, in a way that women aren't.

So, what's the solution? Well, talking about it for a start. If you're in that situation, whether it's physical or emotional abuse, you don't need to put up with that. And you shouldn't feel worried about speaking out. There are people out there who can help - but it starts with telling someone.
