Dutch Officials Launch Perfume That Smells Like MDMA

Who wouldn't want to smell like last night's mistakes?

When you've had a big night out, the last thing you want is the smell of the bender to linger.

You don't want to smell like those Long Island Ice Teas, or those cigarettes or whatever you consumed during the party.

It's beggar's belief why anyone would want to make a perfume like last night's mistakes but Dutch officials have produced fragrance that smells exactly like MDMA and aptly named it XTCY.

Who would wear this is anyone's guess but authorities in the Netherlands are actually onto something.

They're helping spread the smell of MDMA across the country in a bid to help people sniff out the real deal if they're walking around.

On their official website, the product is described as: "In the production of XTC and other synthetic drugs, there is always a danger of the presence of toxic substances, gases, fire or explosion.

"Hazardous waste is also generated during production. This waste is often discharged into open water or in nature and poses a risk to the health of people, animals and plants.

"If there are discharges into open water or the sewer, there is also a danger to the drinking water supply. It is partly for this reason that it is important to trace labs and dumps and to punish the perpetrators of this drug crime.

"Because: XTC. There is a breath of fresh air."

To be honest, we're loving that paradoxically tagline. So, essentially, they're trying to produce a bunch of sniffer dogs in the good people of the Netherlands.

Prosecutor Lars Stempher adds: "Drug production labs are often located in built-up areas, and because they leave traces that the public can recognise, we have introduced this scent to help people identify if a drugs factory is operating in their neighbourhood."

They've added that people should be on the look out for a chemical odor in the air, vans or closed trailers around a building, blue barrel, jerry cans, liquid co ntainers, or building with taped windows that never open or a normal barn that is hung with cameras.

The Netherlands is notorious for being an epicentre of MDMA. Ecstasy pills coming from the country have the highest concentration of the illicit substance than anywhere else in the world.

So it's no wonder why authorities are trying to crack down on the behaviour. But in the meantime, you might have tons of people walking around the Netherlands smelling like a bender.
