Outrage As Instagram Model Smashes Historic Statue With A Hammer

Don't smash up post-war statues with a hammer, LADs - and definitely don't let someone film it and then post it online

An Instagram model has been slammed after footage emerged of her hammering the nose off a post-war statue in Warsaw, Poland:

The young influencer, who has more than 5,900 followers on the social media site, can be seen laughing before smashing the nose off the angel sculpture in Swiss Valley Park.

The woman was tagged in the video, which was uploaded to a friend's Instagram account.

While the model is believed to have filmed the footage as a prank in a bid to attract new followers, she's instead received a massive backlash for her actions, which some see as exhibiting a callous disregard for history.

The video has since been removed and the influencer's Facebook has also been deleted.

But that's not all she's lost. Rumours have emerged that the influencer has been dropped from an advertising campaign due to the footage.

Poland's first fully-online bank mBank has also provided a statement against the young woman's actions as it is believed to have been working with her.

A spokesperson for mBank posted on Instagram: "We definitely do not support such behaviour, and the appropriate services should deal with it.

"As for the responsibility for what the actress does many weeks after the completed photos are taken - we cannot be responsible for the individual choices of such people.

"In this case, it's a role for carers. We do not plan to involve this girl in the next spots."

In an apology translated from Polish, the young woman is reported to have said: "I'm so stupid. I will not say what was driving me, why I did it, because it is more of a private affair, but I really want to apologise to everyone."

The social media star hasn't posted to her Instagram since the incident, as hundreds of her followers continue to express their shock and outrage regarding her behaviour.

One person commented: "I hope the police will come to her tomorrow [Monday] at 6.00am."

That's a fate every young person dreads more than anything - being woken up at an early hour on a Monday morning to deal with whatever mess they've caused over the weekend.

Meanwhile another person added: "In the normal world she is called a wanker and not an influencer."

Harsh? Fair? Either way, at least we all know what not to do next time we're confronted with an unattended statue while carrying a hammer and accompanied by a friend wielding a camera phone.

That's right: maybe just leave it alone, eh?
