Harry Potter Obsessed Fiancée Flaunts Hogwarts-Themed Engagement Ring

A marriage proposal is supposed to be an unadulterated show of love from one person to another. However, one groom-to-be decided to build the big moment around his now fiancée's other love by offering her a Harry Potter-inspired engagement ring.

Clearly it worked, as she said yes and, slightly less importantly, felt compelled to show it off on Reddit.

The ring is constructed from three separate rings, which are built around one central diamond. Surrounding the diamond are four smaller stones, with each representing a house from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The groom went down on one knee with this Harry Potter-themed engagement ring.

It appears there is a ruby to represent the red of Gryffindor, an emerald for the green of Slytherin, a yellow something or other for Hufflepuff, and a green something or other (perhaps a sapphire?) for Ravenclaw.

Captioning the post, user Katiemack777, wrote: "My (now) fiancé knows that I love Harry Potter almost as much as I love him, so he designed a pretty special ring for me."

Judging by the response to her post, it seems people think the man who went down on one knee with that ring is some kind of sublime romantic.

One person said: "My goodness this is stunning. That's very sweet of him to custom design such a special ring for you."

Another added: "Wow I don't even want to get married but I want this ring."

A third said: "He was a chaser, now a keeper." ... That's Quidditch-based marriage bants, by the way.

For some, there is nothing more romantic than a proposal built around a fictional series about a magic school.

You might be surprised that the ring's reception was so unanimously positive. After all, it could be argued that it would be more romantic to offer a ring with stones that represent particular unforgettable landmarks in a couple's relationship, rather than say, a ring with stones in it that represent the particular houses in a made-up magic school from a children's book.

However, the ring's reception is less surprising when you consider it was posted in a Harry Potter page on Reddit, where the audience is undoubtedly very partisan.

The groom later joined the thread to soak up the plaudits, writing: "I'm the fiance! I knew I needed to have an extraordinary ring for such an extraordinary girl. It turned out better than I ever could imagine. The ring is definitely enchanted."

But while the ring may seem a bit extreme to those who aren't Harry Potter obsessed/are proper grown ups, it's nothing compared to a couple who had a full-on Harry Potter-themed wedding earlier this year.

This couple had a full-on Harry Potter-themed wedding.

The big day included arriving at the wedding venue dressed in the robes of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, bringing along an owl, and the bride wearing a dressed based entirely on one that Hermione Granger wore in the film series.

Truly magical.
