Mum Says Her Life Was Saved By Eating Only Cadbury’s Creme Eggs

The chocolate treat is the only thing she can eat without vomiting

They say too much chocolate is bad for you, but one mum found that her life was completely turned around by scoffing nothing but Cadbury's Creme Eggs.

Stella Brown was diagnosed with an incurable oesophagus condition, achalasia, that affects a person's ability to swallow. And if that wasn't enough, she also had a rare digestive disorder that made her sick every time she tried to eat food.

For the 51-year-old, this meant being sick up to 20 times a day for seven years, and caused her to lose three stone in weight.

One day, however, the mum-of four discovered there was one thing she could eat without vomiting - yep, you've guessed it - and it looks as though this could have saved her life.

She said: "People don't believe me when I tell them Cadbury's Creme Eggs saved my life, but it's true. I tried so many things which I could keep down and they were they only food I could eat.

"I realised it by accident one day while trying to eat different foods which didn't make me sick, and it [a Creme Egg] stayed down.

"I ended up going through nine eggs a day - my kids bought me boxes of them and I'd just go through them one at a time.

"It took a while for me to eat each one and it was hard because I didn't even like the taste. I liked them as a kid but they're too sweet."

Of course, Stella tried various other foods, such as Pot Noodles, but they ended up coming back up when she was asleep - inconvenient, to say the least.

Before discovering she could eat the Easter treat, she said was at 'rock bottom' after being diagnosed with the condition - which only affects around 6,000 people in Britain - in 2012.

"It literally happened overnight," she said. "One day I woke up and just couldn't swallow.

It got gradually worse and when it didn't let up after two weeks I went to hospital and they said it was probably acid reflux so gave me Gaviscon.

"I went home and tried it, but it didn't make any difference.

"About three weeks later I found it impossible to keep even water down which was really scary. I panicked when everything started coming up and didn't know what to do.

"The weight was literally dropping off me and it made me really depressed because I just looked gaunt. It was like I was starving to death."

Once she had her diagnosis, she was put through two operations to help her ability to swallow.

She said: "I was at rock bottom. The doctors told me if my condition didn't improve, I'd die within a year."

However, now Stella has Creme Eggs, her life has made a massive improvement and she said she has even been able to try small bits of pasta.

She added: "Whatever the future holds, I'm grateful for Creme Eggs because I'm sure that without them I wouldn't be here."
