Uber Launches 'Quiet Mode' For When You Want Your Driver To Shut Up

You can also now set the temperature and tell your driver that you've got luggage.

There's nothing worse when you're having a bad day and someone tries to chat to you. Whether it's while you're on the bus, the train, or walking down the street - people get into moods where they don't want to talk.

Sadly, we can't exactly just mute randoms when they approach you but you will be able to do that with your Uber driver.

While they're usually just trying to make conversation (sometimes over a long journey), you'll now have the power to silent them with the press of a button. The company has unveiled 'Quiet Mode' for Uber Black and SUV passengers as well as a bunch of other interesting new modes.

Uber has released a statement saying: "Over the years, Uber has expanded mobility by delivering new modes of transportation whenever riders need it. Today, we're rolling out a new, enhanced set of features for Uber Black and Uber Black SUV, the original luxury experiences where it all started.

"If you need to respond to emails or are in the mood for a nap, make your trip a quieter one with just one tap. If you're in the mood to chat, that's an option too."

You'll also be able to tell your driver if you've got baggage (not the emotional kind, they can't help with that) and that'll let them know they need to find an appropriate spot to pick you up.

The new feature will also allow you to tell your driver what type of temperature you're keen for when you hop in. There's nothing worse than stepping out of the sun and into Siberia.

Uber's statement continues: "We know that when riders choose Uber Black and Uber Black SUV, they want a consistent, high quality experience every time they ride. With these new features and more to come, we're excited to ensure that our riders can arrive relaxed and refreshed, wherever they're headed."

Sadly for everyone outside the US, the update has only been released in America. Who knows how long it'll take to be installed elsewhere

Until that arrives, drivers could take a leaf out of George's book, who gives his customers a list of what they want from him.

There are five options: The Stand Up, The Silent Ride, The Therapy Ride, The Creepy Ride and The Rude Ride.

The Stand Up is where George will 'tell you about things that are funny', which could be about his prison stories and other 'poor life choices'.

It doesn't take a genius to guess what the Silent Ride is all about...

The Therapy Ride could be exactly what some people need: when you just want to vent to someone and all they reply with is 'that must be hard', 'wow that's difficult' or 'life just isn't fair is it.' Now that is a service that we all need to have.
