A woman in Suffolk chose to end her marriage after taking in so many rescue dogs that her husband gave her an ultimatum.

Liz, 49, had been welcoming the animals into their family home - but it soon filled up, with over 30 dogs taking over.

The mum-of-one called her husband's bluff and opted for the dogs - so off he went, and she insists that she's never been happier:

"My husband said it is me or the dogs. I haven't seen or heard from him since," she said.

"He just got to the point where he had enough and he wanted to slow down.

"But I wasn't prepared to give it all up. So he decided to go, and obviously, that was his choice."

The pair were childhood sweethearts, having met she was just 16. They got married in 1991 and have a 22-year-old son.

But it appears 25 years of marriage pales into insignificance when it comes to a bunch of cute doggos.

"If I hadn't buried myself in it, I would have just been sitting at home twiddling my thumbs and that's really not me," Liz explained.

"My passion for dogs was far too great.

Well, I suppose we all need a hobby. Living with 30 dogs seems like a lot, though, doesn't it? How do you even begin to go about walking all that lot?

Regardless, the Suffolk resident went on to explain that she just couldn't dream of giving up her precious dogs.

"They are rescue dogs which cannot be re-homed," she continued.

"I have taken them in to look after them, I save dogs from all around the world that have been shot and badly injured."

Half of the 30 dogs need constant care.

Five of the dogs are deaf, two are missing an eye, another four suffer from other defects and one has brain damage. It's fair to assume the poorly dogs are quite a handful.

Because of this, Liz's vet's bill prices at £4,000 ($5,360). This is on top of her £800-per-month ($1,070) house bill.

Her landlord has said that she must move out of the house within a year, but Liz is undeterred, claiming that she's extremely happy:

"I have re-homed so many dogs and now I am looking for a home.

"I have chosen to do this. I love it."
