We have been speculating about what the new iOS would have in store for us and luckily, Apple did not disappoint.

It has a slew of new features that could make our lives a lot easier, but there's a few that you might not immediately spot after updating your phone.

Many of them we don't actually ever notice or use anyway, but the group chat is essential to all of us, and Apple's new features will make it better for some, or even worse for others.

We all know that person who's impossible to get hold of, and if that's not you then you're probably just filling the chat with shit. Now with iOS 11, things are going to get interesting...

New message features

In the messages app on the iOS 10 there was an option called the 'bubble effect' which meant that you can make your text larger and shake.

On the new update, there is an 'echo' and a 'spotlight' option, which can make your message repeat like an echo in a flurry of text and the other puts a beam of light on your message - just in case you really need to get their attention.

But if you don't want to talk to someone, you can mute conversations. Considering the number of group chats that we get into where someone bored at work talks and talks and talks... this is great. This really changes everything.

The one-handed keyboard

It's so hard to type on your phone if you've only got one hand, which in our busy lives happens a lot. But the good people at Apple have realised that we need our second hand to drink our coffee.

To use the one handed keyboard, all you have to do is press the screen and hold down the globe/emoji icon, and three new left, right, and normal icons will appear. This will make the screen about 3/4 its normal size so it's much easier to reach all the buttons on your phone, freeing up your other hand.

The emergency button

There are lot's of situations we can find ourselves in where we need help but we can't contact the police. But luckily, the iOS 11, has given us a great option to protect ourselves. Any extra security is always welcomed.

All you have to do is tap the iPhone's power button five times fast, and then it will lock down the phone and it will bring up a shortcut to contact the police with a swipe of your finger. The emergency services will be given your exact location so they can come to where you are ASAP and help you. Shutting the iPhone down stops thieves or attackers from using your phone to talk to the police or call someone else.

Flight tracker

The last fun new option that the update has is a flight tracker. All you have to do is type the flight number into the Safari address and it will give you the status of your flight and show where it is on the map in real time.
