Guards At Windsor Castle Get Themselves A Bit Mixed Up

Some of the men ended up spinning around trying to find the right way to face

Being one of the guards at Windsor Castle can't be much fun. Having to wear one of those huge bearskins during the summer, having your every move watched by droves of tourists... and, of course, not being able to laugh even when your pals manages to completely balls up the march like this:

First day, guys?

The clip was filmed just outside the castle walls earlier this week and shows troops from 'Five and a Half Company' attempt the Order of the Garter Ceremony. However, as the sergeant shouts 'right turn', some of the men seem to completely forget what right is and end up spinning the wrong way.

Some of the fellas then continue spinning until they're facing the same way as the others and... well, it's just a shambles, isn't it?

Mike Goodwin, a photographer and videographer who caught the footage, then adds insult to injury by zooming right in one of the guard's faces.

That look when you know you've messed up:

Mike said: "We waited hours in the sweltering sun to see the Garter Ceremony at Windsor Castle.

"The bands played and marched professionally past, then Five and a Half Company stopped immediately opposite us.

"What happened next really showed that kids nowadays have no idea which way to turn, neither left nor right.

"The sergeant major must have cried in his sleep last night."

Last year, a Beefeater went viral after he gave a tourist a thorough dressing down for not showing respect to one of the Queen's guards.

The tourist was reported to have lashed a glove towards the guard in an attempt to try and get a reaction from him, but a furious Beefeater spotted the glove and approached the woman.

In a clip that was shared online, he asked: "Did you just throw your glove over?

"Why did you do that? The army's here to protect the crown jewels. He's not here for the public to make fun of," he says.

"He's a soldier, he serves his country, he deserves to be treated with a little respect.

"Throwing your gloves at him isn't going to work, is it, really?"

He then walked over, picked up the glove and handed it back to the woman, who sheepishly walked off.

So, it turns out that while the guards are supposed to stay stock still, the same can't be said for the Beefeaters, who are more than happy to rip you to shreds if they see fit.
