A free runner saved the life of a suicidal woman by sitting with her in the street.

Adam Marr, 24, was in Ancoats, Manchester, when he saw a woman lying down in the middle of the road in the path of oncoming traffic. She was clearly distressed as he approached her and he soon found out that she was attempting to commit suicide.

He sat with her and spent 30 minutes cheering her up, smiling throughout in order to lift her spirits. The emergency services soon arrived to help, and he carried on with his day.

Unbeknownst to Adam, a member of the public, Samantha Caine, managed to snap a picture of him and the woman in question.

She took to Facebook to try and identify him.

She wrote: "Can someone please help me ID this lovely smile, his name is Adam....? This man's kindness saved a woman from trying to take her own life today. He sat with her for over half an hour being so unbelievably patient, calming her down and he never stopped smiling and being positive towards her the entire time. What a beautiful person.

"We need more people like this in Manchester!"

It was shared over 8,000 times and liked 14,000 times. Eventually, Adam was tracked down.

Speaking to LADbible, Adam said: "I had been training parkour and wanted to go take a picture because there was a really nice sunset. As I was cycling around, I saw a woman lay down in the middle of the road. Myself and two other men walked over to her, all three of us were checking if she was alive, checking if she was breathing because she wasn't responding to us.

"After a few minutes we managed to get her to respond and eventually she got up out of the road, she said she was fine and started to leave and I told the others to watch my bike while I went after her and made sure she was alright."

At this point, the woman stumbled to the floor and burst into tears.

Adam continued: "She was very distressed and I did my best to calm her down. I got her to smile a few times and by the time the police got there she gave me a hug and said thank you, I offered her my contact details in case she ever wanted anyone to talk to but she was alright."

Adam.

When he found out about Samantha's Facebook post, he was pretty surprised.

He explained: "An old work colleague tagged me in a post saying I was a legend, in my head I was a bit confused then I checked it and was like kinda overwhelmed because I didn't expect anything of it"

Adam explained that the woman in question hasn't been in touch, but he'd like to know that she's okay.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "We can confirm that we were called to Great Ancoats Street at around 7.45pm on Saturday, May 13, to reports of concern for the welfare of a woman."
