We've well and truly become a generation fuelled by pranks.
They can be small or they can be off the scale but, in some way, getting one over on your mate with a practical joke is the important thing in a friendship.
Better yet, whatever the repercussions, you can get away with it simply by saying "It was just banter" or "What you biting for?"
These LADs could have landed themselves in hot water with their prank, as they rang their mate to tell him he'd got a job when really he hadn't, so he handed his notice in.
Luke Beddoe had gone for a job interview that he was fairly confident about. He'd made that known to his mates, Lee and Jordan, who took full advantage of the situation.
The day after the interview, Lee and Jordan rang up their pal, pretending to be his potential employers, and told him he was successful on his quest.
Delighted with the fact he'd been called so soon about the job, Luke was beside himself - so much so that he rushed to hand his notice in at his current place of work.
Unfortunately, though, that was before Lee or Jordan could explain that he hadn't got the job at all.
So, Luke handed in his notice, before calling his new job to update them... Only for his, er, 'new job' to inform him he hadn't actually got the role.
Clearly smelling something fishy, he got in touch with his mates to sniff out the problem. Unfortunately, though, he couldn't withdraw his notice because his current job knew he was looking to leave, making him jobless.
What. A. Fucking. Mare.
"We are all still very good mates. Luke is still friends with Jordan, who played the prank, and has taken it like a man, all in the name of banter," Lee Chapman, Luke's mate, told LADbible. "They have been best mates for years and years. His job have refused his withdrawal of his notice as they now know he's looking to leave."
It could have gone very badly for everyone involved, really, but I guess this is just a bit of a mix up.
During the call, Luke had said he'd hand his notice in tomorrow, meaning Lee and Jordan thought they'd have plenty of time to reveal the prank to him. But, too excited by the prospect of a new work place, Luke shot his load early. Happens to the best of us, mate.
Luke told LADbible: "It's shit that I have handed in my notice and it's messed things up for me, but I should be okay.
"I'm more embarrassed that I believed it and on top of that phoned the new potential employers arguing that I had got the job. Oh well, all in the name of banter."
