For the most part, student accommodation is quite boring. After the excitement of living by yourself wears off, you're effectively sat in a personalised prison cell.

You can fill it with posters, a few pictures and a television, but eventually you're going to grow tired of the same old stuff as you simultaneously grow tired of your flat mates, leaving you with nowhere to run.

To remedy this true Glasgow has unveiled what is being promoted as the UK's student digs that ooze fun, drawing inspiration from Google's offices by having a slide in it.

The Head of Wellness at true Glasgow was appointed to look after students' physical and emotional wellness, and clearly a helter skelter slide was the way to improve stress.

There are 589 beds in the complex, which is made up of studio and shared apartments that all of have en suites.

The toilet facilities and slide aren't the only thing to get excited about, though, as the site also has indoor swings, a dedicated festival space with music caravan, a cinema, a meeting hub, a library, a café, a fully-staffed gym with classes, a multi-sport all-weather pitch, extra bookable dining rooms, and separate accommodation suites for when family or friends visit. It sounds good, but bloody expensive.

Martin McGinley, Head of Wellness, will be in charge of looking after students, offering scheduled gym classes, on site mental wellness support (with a qualified nurse on staff), and life skills sessions teaching students everything from how to cook to perfecting their own CVs.

Marc Carter, Managing Director, said: "The students coming in have been very excited about, and happy with, their new accommodation, and of course the slide is a huge talking point.

"Studying at university is such an important time in life and we are committed to supporting our residents in getting the very best from the experience, starting with first-class accommodation, but more importantly extending to the inclusive, family-like community we are creating here.

"We want our residents to be happy, healthy, and successful, both during and beyond their time with us at true Glasgow West End, so we have put together a programme of events, activities, and entertainment for them which will help them get the most from their studies, social lives, and personal development."

It's going down a treat with students, with Shannon Welch, 21, from Las Vegas, USA, saying: "This is the coolest place to live in Glasgow. Everyone is so friendly and the place amazing. I am so glad I booked to live here."

Who fancies going to study in Glasgow just to live here?
