Batten down the hatches, there's a storm a-brewin' - and, miraculously, it looks like a penis. A giant, snowy, windy penis.

And, of course, once someone pointed out the phallic nature of the impending Storm Caroline, you really can't un-see it - meaning we're all busy giggling like school kids as a freezing temperatures and stow storms head our way.

The Met Office says that from Storm Caroline we should expect winds gusting upwards of 70mph (112kmph) or 80mph (128kmph) from Thursday morning, though it may even reach 90mph (144kmph) in some places.

The Met Office has issued an Amber warning, which means you need to 'be prepared to change your plans and protect you, your family and community from the impacts of the severe weather', according to the Met Office website. It also indicates that the weather could disrupt plans and possibly cause travel delays, road and rail closures.

The warning specified: "Flying debris could be an issue and some damage to buildings is possible, such as tiles blowing off roofs.

"As with any period of strong winds, there may be some short-term loss of power and effects on other services. Large waves are expected and beach material may be thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and properties."

Following Storm Aileen in September and Brian in October, Caroline is set to be the third named storm of the 2017-2018 winter season. What a lovely bunch they all are.

"The strongest winds will reach the northwest of Scotland early on Thursday, extending to northeast Scotland and the Northern Isles in the afternoon," said Met Office Chief Meteorologist Steve Ramsdale.

"During Thursday winds will start to ease in the west with the strongest of the winds becoming confined to the Northern Isles in the evening.'

"With the return of air from a north westerly direction - with its origins in the Arctic - snow showers will become increasingly frequent and heavy across northern Scotland during Thursday evening."

But let's face it, this is all being slightly overshadowed by the fact that it does look like a penis. I mean, loads of us are used to getting told to stop having such dirty minds when we make such a connection, but there really is no denying this one.

The next few days are looking to get a bit rough weather-wise, but at least we can have a good old snigger before it. After all, it never gets better than laughing at things that look like willies.
