Avid pescatarian Jo Rose was left feeling 'physically sick' after being accidentally served chicken nuggets in a pub.

After going to The Shoe Maker pub in Norwich for a meal with her husband, Jo - who has not eaten meat for the past 30 years - was horrified to discover that instead of the scampi she had ordered, she had in fact chowed down on a chicken nugget.

Jo let rip, saying: "I chose the scampi for lunch and was really enjoying it.

"I put a piece in my mouth. I wasn't looking at my plate as we were busy talking and laughing, but I quickly realised that something was horribly wrong."

She said that she 'feels strongly about eating meat' and as soon as she realised the mishap, asked to speak with the management.

However, management at The Shoe Maker were apparently 'too busy' to deal with the situation at the time.

Jo's husband Gary added: "[The waitress] went off to find the manager, only to return alone. Apparently, they were too busy to speak to us.

"At the end of the meal they took £10 off our £30 bill, but they still didn't seem to think it was important. That's what really annoys us."

A spokesperson for the Greene King chain, the owner of The Shoe Maker, had their say on the incident, explaining: "We are very sorry for what happened.

"The pub was extremely busy and the isolated incident was down to human error.

The chain claimed to have apologised for the incident and that it gave a 'full refund' for the meal.

However, at least this is supposedly a case of an accidental slip-up - one other restaurant recently came under fire after a chef boasted about intentionally 'spiking' the food of vegan customers with meat.

Laura Goodman, the chef and co-owner of Carlini in Shifnal, Shropshire, posted in a Facebook group about a 'pious, judgmental vegan' who had booked to eat at the restaurant.

"Pious, judgmental vegan (who I spent all day cooking for) has gone to bed, still believing she's a vegan," Goodman wrote - blatantly admitting what she'd done.

As you can imagine, not everyone was happy - many people have since hit back by leaving negative reviews on the restaurant's TripAdvisor page.
