A grammar school has apologised after letting a homophobic maths questions slip through the net and into a test that students were asked to sit.

The Royal Grammar School at High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, has said the quiz, written by a now-retired teacher, was 'quickly withdrawn' after realising the inappropriate content.

The test, which was confirmed to be genuine by the school, included eight challenging maths teasers, reports the Metro.

However, one of the questions (question seven) sparked controversy and then went viral because of its dig at the gay community. It had little chill.

It read: "If in a town 70 percent of the men are married to 90 percent of the women (and each marriage is between one man and one woman, as God intended when he made humans male and female), what percentage of the adult population are married?"

One parent, who did not wish to be named, said that the test was 'homophobic' and had an 'anti-LGBT bias'.

"I'm sorry on behalf of the whole school community of governors, staff and boys for any offence this has caused," said headteacher Philip Wayne.

He said that the test was set by an ex-teacher who retired 'a long time ago' but has continued to volunteer.

Appears he also wants to teach R.E., as well as homophobic studies.
