Builder Goes Viral With His Instagram Influencer Account

Being an Instagram 'influencer' seems like a piece of piss, right? Pose for a photo looking pensive, upload a snap of your coffee, post quasi-inspirational but ultimately meaningless quotes then sit back and watch your follower count explode.

If you're sat there reading this and thinking 'surely there's more to it than that', then let me introduce to Omar - otherwise known as @justaconstructionguy- a construction worker, family man and thoroughly unlikely Instagram influencer.

Omar set up his account on 3 May this year, after his daughter explained the concept of an influencer to him and he replied: "Pssh, I could do that." He wasn't messing about, either.

In just over a month, he's racked up more than 393,000 followers (at the time of writing, but it's flying up by the minute) and attracts thousands of comments on his posts, which look great, to be fair. The man's got a talent.

His 18 posts so far manage to capture the influencer vibe spot on. There's a flat lay, showing off his hi-vis, hard hat, gloves, flask and safety goggles; a cool shot of a crane featuring the influencer-favourite caption, 'Not the worst view'; the classic hand reaching in from out of shot, in a kind-of 'take me with you' post and, of course, lots of shots of coffee.

In fact, I think it's fair to say he's absolutely nailed this.

Others clearly agree with one of his followers posting: "Only 'influencer' on the 'gram I'll follow. We are witnessing a legend being born folks." I'm inclined to agree, pal.

Another commented: "You have killed the influencer game. It's killed. Everyone else can stop now."

While a third said: "I've never been so influenced in my life."

Others have urged Omar to 'never change' and have warned him not to let the fame go to his head. Judging by his account and the fact he set this whole thing up just to take the piss, I think it's fair to say this is one influencer who will definitely #StayHumble and #KeepHustling.

Keep up the solid work, Omar. In a world of fakery and bullshit, you're a breath of fresh air.
