The whole 'new number, who dis?' scenario found amazing new heights this week, after a girl ended up having to FaceTime someone's poor mum - who was convinced that she was messaging her son.

Rasheida found herself having to talk the mum into believing that she wasn't 'Dorian' from Canada, only to eventually have to FaceTime the woman to prove it.

"It took a whole 15 minute FaceTime call to convince this woman I wasn't her son Dorian from Canada," Rasheida wrote on Twitter, attaching screenshots of both the FaceTime call and the messages beforehand.

In a later tweet, Rasheida shared more of their baffling conversation.

"Woman, I am in San Francisco," Rasheida told Dorian's mum.

"I thought you were going to go first to LA and then to SF. So you're with Daliana right now?" Dorian's mum replied.

Rasheida told her that she was at her house by herself, before Dorian's mum simply wrote: "All right Dorian, the joke's over."

Speaking to LADbible, Rasheida explained that since her exchange went viral, the baffling situation she found herself in only continued to get more amusing.

"It has been a little overwhelming as far as notifications, but I cant help but laugh out loud literally as the responses to me keep getting funnier and funnier," she said.

"When I FaceTimed her she was telling me about her daughter's stitches on her foot, and how when I sent her my location she really thought I was Dorian because he said he was going to San Francisco.

"She said he's a real jokester though, so she just thought he was getting a head start on April Fool's!"

Rasheida admitted that she did consider playing along, adding: "I thought about acting like Dorian but my initial approach threw it off!"

It gets better, too, because Rasheida has since had a chin-wag with Dorian's mum with a follow-up call to explain that they'd gone viral.

"The best part of the exchange for me was calling her back the next day and letting her know we went viral she said she told Dorian about the whole ordeal and he was just hysterical.

"My message for Dorian is to please let your loved ones know you have a new number!"

She added: "And that that's my mom now!"
