Guy Draws On Abs In Dig At Girlfriend’s Influencer Lifestyle

His Instagram joke was at ‘avocado-wielding maniacs’.

Life as an Instagram boyfriend can be hard. Life as an Instagram influencer can be even more difficult.

Lucky for the rest of us then, that Wellness Ted is making it easy for the rest of us by combining the two. Ted, real name Edward Lane, is a journalist from London who has had quite enough of his girlfriend, Amy Hopkinson, better known as Instagram celebrity Wellness Ed.

His better half is a model of healthy eating, clean living and dedication to personal wellbeing - and she boasts more than 27,000 followers who want to know exactly how she does it.

Ted is...a little different. He's more interested in the finer things in life, scurrying around the world in search of turkey dinosaurs, Maccies cheeseburgers and getting a bag of cans with his mates. To that end, he takes photos of himself in his happy place, surrounded by his favourite things, all the while with washboard abs drawn on with a marker pen.

"For months I was the poor bloke standing behind the camera taking pictures. It made me sad. But I learned A LOT," he says of his time as Amy's in-house photographer.

"I learned that porridge only looks good when it's photographed next to your feet. And that a good set of abs (real or not) will set you on a course for social media domination."

Despite having only started back in April, Ted has managed to garner himself a mammoth 16,000 followers on Insta. He's a legit influencer himself.

"I didn't expect it to go any further than my and my girlfriend's friends, who would see it and we could all indirectly/directly laugh at her," he says of his inspirations. "It sounds mean when I re-read that back, but it was meant to be fun, I promise.

"However, I can kind of see why people enjoy it. Although this was directed at Amy, the whole scene is there for the taking as far as parody is concerned. The rise of health and fitness is a great thing, but it's being spearheaded, in so many ways, by a lot of avocado-wielding maniacs."

Ted might be a pork pie preacher, but he does recognise that fitness is the sort of thing that we should pay attention to. "Promoting health and fitness is a great thing," he says. "People should work out. People should eat healthier."

True that. He probably has to say that. We know who wears the Lycra pants in their house. And Ted knows which side of his chia toast is nut-buttered.
