KFC Takes P*** Out Of Trump And McDonalds With 'Bigger Burger' Jibe

KFC's UK and Ireland Twitter account gave a nod to international politics by referencing Trump's argument with Kim Jong-un

The beef between McDonald's mascot Ronald McDonald and KFC's Colonel Sanders is a modern rivalry to last the ages.

Now it looks like things are hotting up between the pair, as KFC UK and Ireland's Twitter account found a way to laugh at the weird world of international politics today. By which we mean they full-on took the piss out of it all.

Following last year's war of tweets between Aldi and Lidl - can we call it a growing tradition of corporate tweet battles? - KFC had a pop at McDonald's red-haired mascot, slyly referencing a tweet made by the US President Donald Trump yesterday:

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

It was all in jest though, as KFC's tweet came after Trump sent a warning shot via Twitter to North Korea last night, saying that his nuclear button is 'much bigger and more powerful' than North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's.

Nuclear war, anyone?

Trump's tweet came after Kim goaded the US in an annual speech, saying that the entire country was in range of a North Korean nuclear strike and that his nuclear button is always on his desk. The US President opted not to take the threat lightly, responding with a warning of his own.

"North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the 'Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.'" Trump tweeted. "Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!"

KFC's tweet definitely captured the imagination of its customers, with most people seeming excited to let the fight between the pair commence:

Others took the opportunity to air their own personal grievances in KFC's direction:

And, of course, because this is the Internet in 2018, someone was on hand to actually take offence to KFC's tweet:

McDonalds hasn't responded to KFC's post via Twitter yet but you wouldn't put it past another chain like Burger King wading into the argument for laughs.

Before we know it, we might have a nuclear war of fast food chains on our hands. And in the smouldering remains of the ensuing nuclear apocalypse, only Wimpy will be left standing. Because they're pacifists, probably.
