Teenager Confesses To Using Electrician's Passport As ID For Over A Year

We all did it, didn't we. Got hold of a fake ID for those trips to the pub when we were 16. Usually we had an older brother or sister who didn't mind using their passport. Or the more cunning of us decided to go on one of those websites to get a blag driving licence or something.

But one teen's conscience caught up with him when he decided to own up to using a man's passport for ID to get into pubs, clubs and even brothels.

Joe Hunter, 21, lost his passport two years ago when he was out in a bar in Halifax. Due to fly to Lanzarote just two weeks after for a holiday with the lads, Joe from West Yorkshire, had to pay for an emergency one and get a crime reference number from the police.

Anyone who has ever done this knows how much of a faff it is, but Joe took it in his stride and made it to the Canaries.

It was all in the past, that is until he recently received the confession from a student, who has now turned 18 - presumably the reason why he's decided now is the time to come clean.

Thankfully, Joe saw the funny side.

He said: "I was in hysterics when I realised he was serious. I thought 'what a guy', I definitely found it funny because it's something I'd do.

"I scrolled down on his Instagram and every single post he had a drink in his hand or he was at some event or on a night out. I'm glad it's served him well.

"He said it's been passed around so much. Apparently it's been used in brothels and all sorts of places, so fair play to them."

Joe, who now has a new passport, declined the offer to be re-united with his identity documents - adding he was just relieved it hadn't been used for something more untoward.

He said: "When I first lost it I got the police involved and they warned me that it could be in the hands of an illegal immigrant, but I thought that was a bit far stretched and always thought it was more likely that some kid would be using it as fake ID.

"I like the fact that he's got back in touch with me and revealed where it's been all this time, I think it's hilarious just to think that it's been used by all these different people to have a good time."

What a legacy to leave, and fair play to the guy for owning up and offering to send it back.
