Terrifying 'Momo' Challenge Is Taking Over The Internet

A creepy character has recently taken over the internet called 'Momo', which is the new Slenderman to target kids.

According to the MailOnline, Momo is a viral challenge which encourages kids to add a contact on WhatsApp.

The character will then hound them with violent images and dares, the last one being for the child to take their own lives. It really is terrifying stuff.Credit: Twitter/@guardiacivil

The challenge originated after a picture of a female sculpture circulated the internet. With her bulging eyes and scraggly hair she looks like something you'd see in a horror film.

It is believed that the artist who created the 'doll' made Momo using animal remains to create the body of the figure - well, this just got a hell of a lot worse. If that was possible.

The creator is not associated with the challenge that has been circulating the web.

According to the MailOnline, the challenge - which reportedly has already attracted kids in the United States, Argentina, France, Mexico and Germany - may be linked to the death of a 12-year-old girl from Escobar, Argentina.

The Buenos Aries Times reported the police were looking at the link between the girl and the 'Momo' challenge.

The youngster reportedly posted videos of herself doing a series of 'challenges' before taking her own life.

Authorities in other countries are worried about the potential damages of the new challenge as it continues to circulate on social media apps such as WhatsApp.

A Twitter account for Spain's Guardia recently posted about the viral challenge and warned its followers to stay away from any similar accounts.

It warned: "Don't add 'Momo'!" Then went on to explain that if someone recorded a certain number into their phone a strange face of a woman will appear.

This comes after the Slenderman challenge took over the internet a few years ago and resulted in some children being stabbed to death by their friends.

In 2014, two girls from Wisconsin were apprehended by police for attempted homicide, after a 12-year-old girl had been found bleeding by the roadside, having been viciously stabbed 19 times. The pair placed the blame on the Slenderman.

Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser, who were also both 12 years old when the crime allegedly took place, claimed a terrifying tall, faceless man in a black suit stalked them and threatened their families, coercing them into attempting to commit the murder.

These 'challenges' are truly frightening and a warning to everyone to be aware of what's going on.
