A white Jamaican man claims he has been accused of racism because of his accent. You can check out the clip here:

TikTok user @madwhitejamaican shared a clip in which he responded to a question from a follower asking: "Do people tell you why are you faking our accent and why are you faking being Jamaican? [sic]"

Replying to the question, the bloke admitted that he has 'no problem' with being asked the question but admits that it does sometimes lead to unfortunate situations.

He went on: "The problem I do have is that I get shadow banned a lot. I got shadow banned on YouTube; I got shadow banned on Facebook; I got shadow banned on Instagram.

"People were flagging my videos because they thought I was being racist.

"So it kills me when I make a funny skit and nobody sees it because I'm shadow banned and that's why I love TikTok because I haven't been shadow banned yet.

"However I wouldn't be surprised if that day is coming.

"And at the end of the day, remember this - I am not a white man trying to be Jamaican, I am a Jamaican man trying to be white."

In response to his clip, fellow TikTok users have shown their support with one person writing: "Do people not know that white people live in Jamaica?

"And they get the accent because that is how accents work."

Another asked: "Do people really not know Jamaican is a nationality and not a race?"

While a third person wrote: "You're amazing, brother. You don't deserve hate.

"Love watching your videos and hope you don't get banned from here - that would be truly sad."

'Shadow banning' is when a user is partially blocked from a platform, meaning they are harder to find and have a decreased spread across the site.

Those who claim to be shadow banned say it can impact reach and growth for their page or channel.

Instagram has previously claimed that 'shadow banning is not a real thing' and denies that it hides people's content.

However, the platform has also said that it was 'reducing the spread of posts that are inappropriate but do not go against Instagram's Community Guidelines', meaning if your post was deemed 'inappropriate' then it wouldn't appear on the site's explore page.
