Husband Sees Himself In A Photo From His Wife’s Childhood Holiday

Do you believe in love at first sight? No? Well it might just be bollocks anyway given the proof we've got here from a Chinese couple.

The couple, who been married for about five years had actually been within metres of each other nearly two decades earlier but had no idea the other was there.

That's not so shocking, because they didn't know each other yet. What is shocking is that there are snaps with them both in from that day 18 years ago.

The photo in question was taken in July 2000 when both of them happened to be at the May Fourth Square monument in the Chinese city of Qingdao, in Eastern China's Shandong Province.

Ye and Xue, who are both originally from Chengdu, in Sichuan Province in the country's south west, were just kids visiting Qingdao with their families at the time and the picture shows Xue posing in a white dress in front of the huge red monument. In the background can be seen a young man - her future husband.

Ye said that he could tell straight away that it was him, and even has a similar photo of him in front of the monument taken on the exact same day.

The two are now happily married and have twin daughters. Good job really, it looks a bit like it was meant to be.

Now the father of two twin daughters, Ye said: "We were at my mother-in-law's house, and I was looking for old pictures of my wife to see whether our kids looked more like her or me.

"I saw myself in the corner of her photo and said: 'That's me.'"

Needless to say, he was pretty taken aback by the whole thing.

"I knew my wife had also been to Qingdao on holiday before, but we left it at that because we didn't know each other then."

This isn't the first coincidence either. Back before they married they learnt that they both used to live in the same building as kids - must have been a big building if they never met.

They both believe now that their marriage was destiny and that they were meant for each other, which is nice.

Ye has kept both photos and plans to treasure them forever.

He said: "My wife says I don't know how to be romantic. I'll show her romantic."

That's the spirit, Ye.
