Man Keeps Making Weird Amazon Purchases 'In His Sleep'

Do you ever think about what you do in your sleep, how much you move, what you might say? Do you sleepwalk or maybe you mistake the wardrobe for the toilet.

All potentially pretty embarrassing, some more than others.

Well, one 24-year-old support worker claims to order things on Amazon while he's snoozing. No joke.

Adam McRae, from Liverpool, tucks himself into bed and nods off, only to start doing his subconscious shopping.

His most recent purchase, a fountain pen, Indian ink, henna designs and a notepad, set him back £30 but that's not the strangest thing he's purchased, or searched.

He told LADbible his weirdest buy was perm rods and there's really not much to perm.

He's also searched for things like a glow in the dark Indian henna which he believes shows that his strange sleeping habit is 'legit'.

He told LADbible: "I first realised I did things in my sleep when I noticed I had done a Facebook status that I had completely no recollection of. That was the first thing I realised but that only happened the once.

"I have my bank details linked to Amazon so that's how I pay for what I order. I only ever realise I have purchased something asleep when I check my emails and see the confirmation of what I ordered.

"Which again I have no memory of doing. I'd say it began probably around four years ago and it's happened about four to five times so far.

Some of Adam's orders.

"It is 100 percent legit. The things I've bought in my sleep and searched for I think proves it's legit. For example a glow in the dark Indian henna.

"It doesn't happen all the time. It's never cost me much but the recent purchase was £30 odd.

"It's usually less than £30 but this time I purchased five items which is why it was so much. I ordered a fountain pen, Indian ink, cartridge paper and two sets of different henna hand stencils.

"I have been around family and friends when I've found out about what I've done asleep so I do have people to back me up that I do do this.

"I completely understand there are going to be sceptical people. People have asked me before if it's real and I promise it is.

"I'd say the perm rods were the weirdest, I wouldn't usually buy perm rods. Or henna hand stencils.

"The payment does go through and I do receive my items. The other day was the first time I actually looked to see what I had searched in my sleep.

"I've searched for things like 'finger claws' which makes no sense. And I've ordered dreadlocks... I've purchased a back brace too."

I suppose you never know when it might come in handy.

Adam has a theory for why this may be happening, though. He says: "The only thing I can think of is I must dream about what I buy.

"I know the night I bought the perm rods I dreamt I had a perm so that was the connection there.

"At first I was confused as I just don't have any memory of doing it. Now I find it hilarious with some of the things I've searched for and ordered.

"So far it seems to just be Amazon. I do use Amazon a fair bit to be honest. I've not spoken to them about it.

"I have found myself checking just in case, checking my emails and stuff. I do think from consciously buying items that it is ridiculously easy to order things.

"You just press buy and that's it. Done. I'm not going to cancel my account I'm just thinking about putting a password on the app or getting rid of my finger print as that's how I'm assuming I access the app asleep.

"I just thought I'd share it with people as I don't know anybody else who has done this before. Not many people know I do until now.

"It's bizarre but I find it hilarious. Until I order something massively expensive. Fingers crossed I don't."

Let's hope he has no dreams about a swanky round the world trip any time soon...

When contacted by LADbible, Amazon declined to comment but did explain that company has a page that customers can go to which informs them how to cancel orders.
