A woman in the US has had a baby with a double murder on death row. Watch her discuss their relationship here:

Sigrid's life has been turned on its head since she moved to the States three years ago to marry Alan Wade, 33. In 2005 he was convicted of robbery, kidnapping and the first-degree murders of Reggie and Carol Sumner, a retired couple in Jacksonville who he buried alive.

Sigrid and Alan's romance blossomed through letters, with the Frenchwoman writing to prisoners due to her strong belief in rehabilitation and vehement opposition to the death penalty.

The 39-year-old said: "When I started to realise that I was having feelings for him, and him for me, we both got scared.

"We tried to stop writing to each other, [but] we were both miserable. After six weeks, he wrote back - the first words were 'I love you'."

Alan proposed to Sigrid during one of her visits to Florida State Prison, a year after they began talking, and they tied the knot in prison in 2016.

She said: "He made a little speech, saying how much he loved me and how much I mattered to him, that he really wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.

"It's bittersweet when I look at the pictures. Seeing us together and holding hands, it makes me really nostalgic and I really hope I can have that again soon."

Now, the couple have a nine-month-old son together, but Sigrid won't reveal how he was conceived, given that conjugal visits are banned on death row.

Sigrid has lost a lot of friends over the romance.

She said: "We don't want to say how my son was conceived. I think it's important that we can sit and explain to my son how he was conceived before someone else does it for us.

"I like to respond that he's in prison but I'm not. It was really hard, but we managed and now we have a son."

But while Sigrid is happy with her unorthodox family, it has come at a price.

She said: "I think they [friends and family] found out his name and looked him up. That's when they all disappeared. They were really scared for me and I think they were being worried who he was and if he's being honest with me.

"I sent out maybe 60 wedding announcements to my own family and I got maybe four 'I got your card' and a couple of congratulations. That was it.

"I got a few people who deleted me from their Facebook account. I understand that it's really hard to understand. I want people to understand he makes me happy and I don't get why it bothers people so much.

"People who are supposed to love me, they're bothered because someone is loving me right and making me happy."

And despite being limited to monthly phone calls and fleeting visits, Sigrid reckons it's all worth it.

She said: "Being with Alan definitely changed everything in my life because I've really embraced who I am completely and loved unconditionally by someone who I love the same.

"And now we have the little guy here. This is something I would never have wanted with anyone else."
