Andy Samberg Is Seriously Underrated And We Don't Deserve Him

We may know him for his starring role in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but Andy Samberg's lengthy career shows he is much more than that.

The 40-year-old first rose to fame as a Saturday Night Live star alongside the likes of Jimmy Fallon - and he's even been in a few skits with megastars like Taylor Swift in his day.

But over the years he's built up quite a portfolio, not just as a talented actor, but a pretty funny guy too - so much so it's pretty much the consensus among many fans that Andy is simply underrated.

Proof, you say? Well, it really doesn't take too much of a glance at social media to see just how people feel.

"Andy Samberg the human form of adorable & beautiful," one person wrote on Twitter. "He's such a talented & unproblematic artist & I'm eternally sad that he is very underrated. All his work is phenomenal. His love for Joanna will always make me swoon. Love him.

"He deserves the world."

Another said: "Andy Samberg is the most underrated actor of our generation and I love him so much that is all."

"It's frustrating that Andy Samberg is so underrated," a third added.

While a fourth went to the extremes with their love for him: "Andy Samberg is so underrated. I would die for him." Steady on!

He's certainly been around for a long time - which is why people shouldn't have been too surprised recently to learn that he's now 40 years old.

He starred alongside Adam Sandler in That's My Boy and was the voice of Johnny in the Hotel Transylvania trilogy of family movies.

He won the heart of plenty of British fans when he starred in BBC Three sitcom Cuckoo, where his character played off well against Inbetweeners star Greg Davies.

But, if you're really wondering about the different paths his career has taken him down, you can't miss out the parody songs he recorded under the name The Lonely Island.

He once made a song called 'Motherlover' with Justin Timberlake and another called 'YOLO' with Adam Levine - it wouldn't take too much detective work to recognise that these songs might not be ones for the family disco. Still, they're bloody hilarious.

Acting, comedy, voice work, music - he was even in Spongebob Squarepants once. Don't think we're over-egging this pudding when we ask: is there anything he can't do?

But his story is always going to come back to Brooklyn Nine-Nine - the show that made him so revered by so many. Little wonder there was uproar when it got cancelled - at least, until it was picked up by NBC.

You can get your next dose of Andy Samberg in season six of the show when it hits UK screens later this year.
