Ben Affleck Has Been Absolutely Rinsed For His Phoenix Back Tattoo

Ben Affleck Has Been Absolutely Rinsed For His Phoenix Back Tattoo

He initially told people it was fake for a movie but surprise, surprise, it's still there three years later

There are plenty of people around the world who regret getting a tattoo. Whether it's your ex's name or the marijuana leaf you had inked because it seemed oh-so-important at the time (not that you can remember why), you either suck it up and laugh when questioned about it or go on the painful and expensive journey to have it removed.

Thankfully, the majority of us aren't big name movie stars and our mistakes are unlikely to be mocked around the world.

Unfortunately, that's happening for Ben Affleck.

Yeah, it's pretty dramatic.

It's a massive, colourful image of a phoenix, 'rising from the flames' as the phrase goes, leaving not much room left on his back. The ink was first noticed in 2015, shortly after he split from Jennifer Garner, with paparazzi snapping what looked to be a lower back tattoo.

A few months later, he was seen on the set of Live By Night with an open back hospital gown that put the design on full display.

Who knows, maybe he really likes it, but people on social media sure as hell don't.

When ex-wife Jennifer Garner was quizzed about her thoughts on the tatt, she told Vanity Fair: "You know what we would say in my hometown about that? 'Bless his heart'.

"A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario? I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes."

His former fiancée Jennifer Lopez was also asked about it on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.

She told the TV host: "It's awful! What are you doing? His tattoos always have too many colours, they shouldn't be so colourful.

"They should be cooler."

Weirdly, when pictures first emerged of Affleck's tattoo, he tried to claim it was fake and just for an upcoming movie. Well, it's clear that was a big lie and the phoenix persists to this day.
