Donisha Prendergast and her two mates were leaving an Airbnb residence in San Bernadino, California when they were suddenly surrounded by a bunch of police officers.

The trio were packing their stuff into their car when they saw more several cop cars block their vehicle.

According to the Daily Mail, a neighbour called 911 when they didn't recognise the three women or the car that was parked outside the property. They were eventually released when police realised they had done nothing wrong, however Prendergast, one of Bob Marley's granddaughters, said it highlights racial bias.

She wrote on Instagram: "So much things to say right now... Got surrounded by the police for being black in a white neighbourhood. Smh.

"I'm sad and irritated to see that fear is still the first place police officers go in their pursuit to serve and protect, to the point that protocol supersedes their ability to have discernment.

"Many have suffered and died in moments like these.

"That's a crazy reality check. Give thanks for life and the ability to stand our ground. We are stronger together. Use your voice collectively."

In the video, Donisha reveals that she even saw the neighbour call the police.

She was forced to call the homeowner and get her to speak to the cops to verify that she allowed them to stay at her Airbnb. You can hear the woman who owns the property sound dumbfounded and outraged that someone would call 911.

Kells Fyffe-Marshall, one of the women who was with Prendergast, took to Facebook to add her frustration about the incident.

"The four of us packed our bags, locked up the house and left," she wrote. "As you can see three of us were Black. About 10 seconds later we were surrounded by seven cop cars. The officers came out of their cars demanding us to put our hands in the air.

"They informed us that there was also a helicopter tracking us. They locked down the neighbourhood and had us standing in the street.

"We showed them the booking confirmations and phoned the landlord... because they didn't know what she looked like on the other end to confirm it was her, they detained us.

"The trauma is real. I've been angry, frustrated and sad. I was later detained at the airport. This is insanity."

She added that the reason why the neighbour called the police was because the trio didn't wave at her.
