It should have been a night of celebration for Cardi B after the rapper became the first solo female to win the coveted Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards.

Videos uploaded to her Instagram account showed her screaming with excitement backstage after collecting the gong for her album Invasion of Privacy.

But in the hours since her win, she's come under vicious attack from fans who say the award was more suited to the late Mac Miller for his fifth studio album Swimming.

While the rapper, who died last year from an accidental drug overdose, didn't win, Cardi gave him a shoutout during a video on Instagram, saying: "I read an article that said Mac Miller's family wanted me to win if he didn't win, so I'm sharing this with you motherfucker. Rest in peace."

But it seems as though the trolls didn't stop coming for her, leading to her posting a now deleted video on the same social media account, in which she does not hold back.

"It's not my style to put people down but to uplift somebody else," she said in the foul-mouthed rant. "I've been taking a lot of shit today and I saw a lot of bullshit last night.

"I'm sick of this shit. I worked hard for my motherfucking album."

"I remember last year when I didn't win for 'Bodak Yellow' and everyone was like, 'Cardi got snubbed.' Now this year's a fucking problem?

"My album went two-times platinum. Every chart that there was, my album was top 10. No. 1 album as well. I fucking worked my ass off and locked myself in the studio for three months. Didn't go to sleep in my own bed sometime for four days straight pregnant!"

She added that not only did she pour her heart and soul into the record but she did it while being pregnant and keeping that a secret from the industry.

"While everyone was harassing me, like, 'You not going to do it. We know you're pregnant. Your career is over.' That shit was dwelling on my fucking mind when I'm working," she said to the camera.

Who knows, maybe she was also receiving flak from fans of the other artists nominated, but either way it seems as though the pressure has got to her and she's taken a step away from Instagram for now.

It's unclear if this is just temporary or permanent.
